DUAL 1237 turntable, European apple veneer, shellac
Dual 1237 - turntable with belt drive, manufactured in the late 70s of the last century. Elegant, offers full and dynamic sound. Version with wooden housing, covered with natural European apple veneer, covered with traditional shellac polish (so-called "French polish") with a delicate, satin finish.
The turntable has had a full service inspection and renovation - the old grease has been removed, the entire mechanism has been cleaned and re-lubricated. The engine, after a full technical inspection and lubrication - holds the revolutions correctly. The arm lift grease has been replaced with a new one, the lift works with the correct resistance. A new drive belt has been installed. The capacitor in the power supply line has been replaced with a new one.

The turntable is functional, all functions work properly. Dual 1237 - is fully automatic: it allows you to start with one lever, after the end of playback the arm automatically returns to the initial position. The start can also be initiated manually, bypassing the automation.
The turntable can be equipped with a spindle - a record changer - allowing automatic listening to several records, one after the other. The spindle is not included in the set.
The turntable has normal traces of use, small scratches and abrasions. Visually it is in very nice condition.
The whole thing works properly and offers a balanced, clear sound. The original, used Dual DMS 220 cartridge is equipped with a new spherical needle. The headshell can be fitted with all cartridges with a 1/2 inch mount, weighing from 4.5 to 10 g / 0.16 oz to 0.35 oz (including mounting elements).
FINISHING TECHNIQUE USED.
The wooden plinth (housing) of the turntable is made of wood, covered with a natural veneer from European apple wood and finished with a classic wood decoration technique, i.e. shellac polish with a tampon (another name for "French polish"). In this case, over thirty layers of polish were applied.
This is a traditional, manual technique used for hundreds of years, among others, to decorate and protect wooden furniture, musical instruments, works of art and also in the conservation of monuments.
Shellac polish, like no other finishing coating, wonderfully brings out the grain of the wood, gives it a beautiful color and, penetrating the wood structure, an unprecedented depth - such an effect is unattainable with other surface finishing techniques.
UPGRADE:
- the old tonearm wiring was replaced with a new copper litz wire in a cotton braid 7 x 0.07 mm (7 x 0.002"),
- new audio cables were installed; interconnect - made on low-capacity DK4 cable by Schulz-Kabel (Germany). Separate signal and ground wires for each channel. The mass of the arm and turntable is also conducted separately - through the cable shield. New RCA "Amphenol" plugs have been installed.
- a new power cable and a new anti-interference capacitor have been installed in the power supply circuit.
Steel legs, made in the form of spikes, minimize the transfer of vibrations from the substrate to the housing and the turntable arm.
The turntable has a non-original cover from the "Simple Cover" series, visible in the photos.
In the case of using a changer spindle, you can automatically listen to up to 6 records - one after the other. The spindle is not included with the turntable.
