Dual KA 230 - amplifier with radio and Dual 1226 turntable
Dual KA 230 - amplifier with radio and Dual 1226 turntable - solid equipment manufactured in the late 70s of the 20th century. Great sound combined with an unconventional design. It has the ability to connect a quadraphonic decoder.
The set includes a changer spindle - allowing automatic listening to several records, one after another.
Upon request, we can prepare the equipment for use in the USA free of charge (replacement of the turntable motor pulley and adaptation to the electrical voltage of 110 - 125 V, 60 Hz).
Both the amplifier and the gramophone are functional, after a comprehensive service inspection. The radio works without any problems, has a pleasant, green scale backlight, receives clearly. It has automatic frequency control (AFC), "Loudness", "Muting" function and the ability to store up to 6 FM radio stations. The amplifier works flawlessly, both channels play evenly and clearly. The potentiometers do not creak, they work properly.
The knobs and front panel are made of aluminum. The casing is in its original white veneer - it has normal traces of use and a few larger scratches and abrasions. The dust cover is original, it has two large cracks on the rear vertical wall (secured with tape), one of the cracks overlaps the upper, horizontal surface - despite these damages it is fully functional; apart from that it has normal traces of use and a few scratches and abrasions. The cover has not been polished. Its condition is visible in the photos.
The device has a "Tape" input allowing you to connect a tape recorder or other device (e.g. using the appropriate plug adapter: computer or MP3 player).
INFO: the original white veneer on the device is no longer perfectly white, but it is in nice condition for its age; with the above-mentioned traces of use. The whole thing has been cleaned and refreshed with appropriate preparations.
Dual 1226 turntable - it is a full automatic: it allows you to start using one lever, after the end of playback the arm will automatically return to the rest position. You can also initiate start and stop without automatic operation. It has "Anti-Skating" and "Pitch-Control" control knobs that provide greater control over the sound being played.
A used cartridge was installed - Shure M91 MG-D with a used stylus. The cartridge and stylus have been checked and are in very good technical condition (data is provided based on electrical measurements and microscopic examinations). The headshell can accept cartridges with a 1/2 inch mount, weighing 2 to 10 g (0.07 - 0.35 oz) - including mounting elements.
After using the appropriate element (so-called spindle), the vinyl record changer in the turntable works, allowing automatic listening to up to 6 records - one after the other.
The equipment has been cleaned and adjusted according to the manufacturer's service instructions.
The turntable has been fully inspected and renovated - the old grease has been removed, the mechanism has been cleaned and re-lubricated. The arm lift grease has been replaced - the lift works with the right resistance. All functions are functional. The engine has had a complete technical inspection and lubrication - it maintains the correct speed.
The amplifier has also undergone a comprehensive technical service. All old small-capacity capacitors and damaged final stage transistors have been replaced. The quiescent current has been adjusted in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
The Dual KA 230 allows you to connect 4 loudspeakers and is adapted to work with an appropriate decoder enabling you to listen to quadraphonic records (function not tested). The loudspeakers connected to the equipment should have an impedance of 4 to 16 Ohms.
